Question about Costa Rica Tours?

I will be traveling alone to Costa Rica this June and will be there for a week. I’m 27 years old and I’m pretty active. Some of the activities in Costa Rica that I’m interested in doing include mountain biking, white water rafting and zip lining through the rain forest. Basically I’m wondering whether it is better to book these activities separately or as part of a multi-day tour package. I’ve noticed that some of the all-inclusive tours tend to cater towards older adults who might be less inclined to seek adventure. I actually want to experience the culture and I really have no interest in being pampered or “nickled and dimed” at some fancy resort. Is it better to have all these tours booked ahead of time or should I play it be ear and book upon arrival? Any tips or advice is appreciated. Also, if anyone has any adventure tour suggestions that involve camping, biking, etc that might be up my alley let me know. Thanks.

looking for a tour company that services Turkey and Greece that are comparable to Intrepid Tours?

I am holidaying in Greece and Turkey in September and want to take a group tour. I really like adventure tours (but nothing too physically demanding as I’ll be traveling with an elderly relative).

I have taken Intrepid tours before and have been very impressed, however they don’t have any available tours that suit our dates this time around.

Can anyone recommend any ethical tour companies? Preferably ones that use local guides where possible and local transport (don’t really like coach tours)?

where do I find tours to world adventures, GAP Adventures ?

Does anyone know any good ghost tours in Los Angeles?

Tours that are sort of similar to “Scariest Places on Earth”, except they’re in CA (obviously) and a tour guide is preferred. Or something like Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures…anything that will provide us with hands on investigation..

ANYTHING that you know will help A LOT!!!

thanks!

Should Singapore promote ghost tours as a tourist attraction?

It might be thrilling for adventure seekers looking for something rather then the “usual haunts” of Sentosa, Orchard Road etc. Sure the market might be small, but you never know, it might be a trend or something. Think about it, Singapore weakness is that it is small and it does not have a rich cultural heritage compared to other countries. But, one thing it does have is a reputation as Asia’s most haunted place( partly thanks to the Japanese occupation and the large amount of bomohs and mediums in Singapore )You would be surprised how many “ghosts” actually resides in Singapore!

Currently, SPI a paranormal investigation group holds such tours. They have tours where they explore cemeteries, haunted houses and even demonstrations of tangkis( some sort of medium ) who will be possessed in the ritual and would be impervious to injury, doing dangerous acts such as getting strike by a real sword and showing no obvious wounds or whatsoever. Below is their company website…

I believe that the large amount of haunted places in Singapore is one of Singapore’s biggest strengths.…Where can I suggest this to the tourism board or something

Alaskan Cruise, are the day tours worth the expense in your experience?

Are the day tours the cruise line offer worth the cost and are they/were they pleasant for you?
Any particular tours you liked and why?
We (2 of us) are kinda thinking of just getting off the boat when it docks and finding our own adventures, maybe renting a car etc for the day and checking things out. Whatever. Being spontaneus. Is this a good way to do it or do you have any other insights/awarenesses or suggestions? Thanx!
Thanx to all of you for your sage advice and for sharing your expereinces. It has helped a lot!

I am starting a company that offers guided tours to little known yet interesting destinations. Will this fly?

I am a long term San Diego county resident and know all the cool spots, i.e. waterfalls, caves, old mines, even a turn of the century sawmill. I plan on charging 80 dollars for a 3 to 6 hr adventure and am hesitant about spending good money on a stupid idea. Looking for input, encouragement or whatever.

Death Valley Tours from Vegas in June?

Does anyone know of any reliable tour companies that provide Death Valley Tours from Las Vegas in June? I checked out a few (Look Tours, Adventure Tours) that say they need a minimum 4 passengers and they are seasonal only until May. I then checked out this website called DeathValleyTours.net and it doesn’t seem like a secure website. I couldn’t find anything on it on the BBB site nor did I see a secure little sign at the bottom indicating it’s a safe site to enter credit card info into. Anyone know of it? Or know of any tour companies that do tours from Vegas to Death Valley.

Tours of different states?

I have been on five Great Ohio Bike Adventure (GOBA) tours and have really enjoyed them. Are there any other tours you can recommend (the one in Iowa is just too big for me).
